Goshen Education Consulting DoD STEMKAMP Evaluation Advisory:

Evaluand Principal Kirk Knestis served on a six-member evaluation advisory board convened to provide critical friend oversight to STEMKAMP, a project of Goshen Education Consulting funded by the U.S. Department of Defense DoD STEM program. This out-of-school time learning program utilizes an interdisciplinary summer day camp model that provides hands-on experiences in Science, Technology, Engineering and Math for Kids of Active Military Personnel (so, STEMKAMP), to inspire and grow STEM talent among dependents of military families attending school in districts near stateside bases.

This program is a multi-state scale-up of a successful STEM camp framework to as many as 3,500 Grade 3-8 students in 10 military-connected school districts through 2023. Knestis contributed to review of STEMKAMP’s progress and results considering documentary materials provided by the project managers complemented by regular meetings with the Goshen team.
